Product Description:

  • Micardis Plus is a combination of two active ingredients, telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide, in one tablet. Both active ingredients are used to control high blood pressure.
  • Telmisartan belongs to a group of blood pressure medications called angiotensin II inhibitors.
  • Angiotensin II is a substance produced by the body that causes blood vessels to constrict, thus increasing blood pressure.
  • Telmisartan works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II so that blood vessels dilate and blood pressure decreases.
  • Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of drugs called thiazide diuretics, which increase urine output and lower blood pressure.
  • If high blood pressure is left untreated, it can damage blood vessels in many organs, sometimes leading to heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, or blindness.
  • High blood pressure usually does not cause any symptoms until damage occurs.
  • Therefore, it is important to measure your blood pressure regularly to ensure it is within the normal range.
  • Micardis Plus is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with telmisartan alone.

Directions for use:

Tell your doctor if you have or have had any of the following conditions or diseases:

  • The active ingredient hydrochlorothiazide can cause an unusual reaction that causes blurred vision and eye pain. These symptoms, which may mean fluid has built up in the choroid (choroidal effusion) or that the pressure in your eye is too high, may occur within hours or weeks of taking Micardis Plus.
  • Left untreated, this can lead to permanent vision loss.
  • If you have skin cancer or if you experience unexpected skin changes during treatment.
  • Treatment with hydrochlorothiazide, especially at high doses over a longer period, may increase the risk of certain types of skin and lip cancer (non-melanoma skin cancer).
